As many as 80 workers ready to start jobs with the Charleston Pie Man at the company’s new Georgetown production center will have to wait until at least the beginning of June.

The company recently scrapped plans for a retail facility and bakery in Pawleys Island and is now working to open a small training facility in Georgetown by June 1, according to owner Toby Simmons.

“We had to sit down and reevaluate this whole thing, slow it down and re-track how we’re doing things,” Simmons said. “It set us back about a month in setting up and getting things going. Better now than later
