November 9, 2009; INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA – Just in time for the holiday season, Seald Sweet International of Vero Beach, FL received its first loads of Spanish Clementines in the U.S.

Seald Sweet, a co-packer for Imagination Farms has been shipping Disney Garden branded citrus since May of 2007, but this marks their first shipments of Disney Garden Spanish Clementines from grower Jorge-Garcia Ballester.

Known for their easy to peel “zipper” skin and sweet taste, clementines have continually grown in popularity over the past several years. According to USDA, Economic Research Service statistics, consumption of specialty citrus like clementines has climbed from 1.8 pounds per capita to 2.6 pounds per capita over the past 20 years.

Melinda Goodman, Director of Marketing for Imagination Farms commented, “Disney Garden clementines make a perfect snack for kids. Their small size is a perfect portion and they are easy to eat without a lot of mess or hassle. Creating positive eating experiences with kids sets the stage for increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables as part of a healthy lifestyle and Disney adds another layer of excitement for children who might not have tried clementines before.”

Disney Garden Spanish Clementines will be available in mesh handled bags in a variety of weights from 2-4lbs and will be available through February. In addition to Spanish Clementines, Seald Sweet packs domestic and imported citrus including navels, grapefruit, minneolas, and more in the Disney Garden brand.

Disney Garden suppliers include: Chelan Fresh, FirstFruits Marketing and L&M Companies (Washington state apples, pears and cherries), Four Star Produce and William Kopke (grapes), Turbana (bananas and pineapples), Crunch Pak (sliced apples and FOODLES), Sunwest (California citrus), SGS & Dayka-Hackett (stonefruit and grapes), Church Brothers (Western veg, value-added veg, and FOODLES), Hugh Branch and Prima Bella (sweet corn), Seald Sweet (imported citrus), Custom Pak (sweet grape tomatoes and watermelons), Progreso Produce (watermelons, mangos, and pumpkins), Rigby Produce and Russet Potato Exchange (fresh and value-added potatoes), West Pak Avocados (avocados), Mastronardi Companies (hothouse vegetables), Delano Farms (fresh grape cups), Berry Fresh (blueberries and blackberries), Stellar Distributing (kiwi fruit), Franks Distributing (mini sweet peppers), Belle Harvest (Michigan apples) and Silvestri Sweets (caramel apples).
