   Roundy's & the Roundy's Foundation Help Families In Need This Thanksgiving

Milwaukee - Roundy's Supermarkets, Inc. and the Roundy's Foundation once again are trying to answer the growing need to feed the hungry in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Donations surpassing $80,000 are helping hundreds of families during the Thanksgiving holiday through food banks and meal programs.

Hunger Task Force Breakfast Donation

On Thursday, November 19, the Roundy's Foundation gave a donation valued at $40,644.80 to the Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee. The gift included cereal valued at $26,344.80 that consisted of 696 cases of cereal on 28 pallets plus a check for $14,300 to purchase milk and other items to complete the breakfast meal.

House of Peace Donation

Also on Thursday, November 19, the Roundy's Foundation donated $5,000 in gift cards to the House of Peace for the organization's Holiday Baskets Program. Additionally, Roundy's and Pick 'n Save donated 60 turkeys to Thanksgiving baskets in partnership with the Milwaukee Bucks and the Michael Redd Foundation.  

Turkeys for the Blood Center of Wisconsin's Thanks for Giving Campaign

For the fourth year, Roundy's and the Blood Center of Wisconsin joined forces to help increase the number of blood donors in addition to feeding the hungry in our community during this critical time. The partnership is called the "Thanks for Giving" campaign. For every 20 donors, Roundy's and the Blood Center donate one turkey to feed needy families. A total of 400 turkeys were delivered on Monday, November 23: 180 went to the Hunger Task Force. The remaining 220 went to food pantries in Waukesha, West Bend, Racine, Kenosha, Sheboygan, Manitowoc, Lake Mills, La Crosse and Marshfield.  

Feeding America's Stuff the Bus Donation

On Wednesday, November 25 at 8:30 a.m., the Roundy's Foundation truck will deliver a donation valued at $28,838.08 to the "Stuff the Bus" food drive that benefits Feeding America - Eastern Wisconsin. The food drive lasts from 5 a.m. - 6 p.m. at Pick 'n Save located at 11111 W. Greenfield in West Allis and will be broadcast live by 99.1 WMYX-FM. The Roundy's Foundation gift includes a check for $10,000 plus soup valued at $18,838.08 that consists of 748 cases weighing 262 pounds. Additionally, the Pick 'n Save produce department will add a donation of potatoes and onions valued at $3,500.  

Meals on Wheels - St. Paul, Minnesota Donation

At 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, Meals on Wheels in St. Paul, Minnesota, will stop at Rainbow at 1566 University Avenue West to pick up 1,200 pumpkin pies for its Thanksgiving meal deliveries. From Monday, November 23 - Wednesday, November 25, the store's bakery department is working around the clock to prepare, bake and package pies for this donation on top of its regular busy Thanksgiving duties. This is the fourth year the store has baked pies for Meals on Wheels.
