   Winn-Dixie Focuses On Cross-Marketing

As Winn-Dixie jostles for an edge in the hypercompetitive battle for supermarket shoppers, the Jacksonville-based company is forging partnerships with other businesses that have their own products and services to sell.

At Winn-Dixie stores, shoppers can buy Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida insurance cards. They can obtain reloadable prepaid Visa cards. They can rent movies from Redbox kiosks. And they can take their Winn-Dixie reward cards to buy gasoline at a discount from dozens of Shell stations.

Some stores sell Jacksonville Transportation Authority bus passes. In the coming weeks, Winn-Dixie will add yet another retail service for its shoppers by letting customers pay their JEA bills at the store.
