Vista, California, March 2010 - The past few years gardeners all over the country have been adding a colorful zing to their gardens with petunia ‘Lemon Zest’. Now there is a new flavor to try - Orange! Petunia ‘Orange Zest’ has the same great garden performance as the best selling original ‘Lemon Zest’ but with juicy orange blooms.

“Lemon Zest’ looks so good in the landscape that it will pop out from a distance,” comments Lisa Heredia, program coordinator for VIVA!, “Add in ‘Orange Zest’ and you have the dynamic duo of petunias. These bold citrusy hues are hard to miss.”

Both ‘Orange Zest’ and ‘Lemon Zest’ look great in a patio pot, a hanging basket or in the garden. As annuals, ‘Orange Zest’ and ‘Lemon Zest’ are hardy to 32ºF. All petunias do best with a regular dose of fertilizer, slow release plant food is best. Add in an optional liquid feed for exceptional growth and color. A mounded plant growth habit assures that the bright flowers of ‘Lemon Zest’ and ‘Orange Zest’ will form balls of color up to 12” high and 18” wide.

‘Lemon Zest’ and ‘Orange Zest’ will be available nationally this spring in The Home Depot’sâ VIVA! line of plants.

VIVA! program introduces a variety of new and noteworthy flower varieties into the U.S. and Canadian markets and contains a mixture of annuals, perennial and woody ‘color’ for use in home landscapes by home gardeners or landscapers. By looking at new flower breeding from around the world, VIVA! and The Home Depot bring innovative new garden ideas to homeowners from coast to coast.

Floragem is a horticultural marketing company that works with The Home Depot on the VIVA! collection of flowers grown by The Home Depot grower network and sold exclusively through The Home Depot. Consumer information on VIVA! plants is available at www.vivagarden.com or to the press in the press room of www.floragem.com.
