   Yoplait Expands Commitment To Breast Cancer Cause By Raising The Bar For Support To Long-Time Partner Susan G. Komen For The Cure

MINNEAPOLIS --- By raising the maximum donation of its Save Lids to Save Lives® program up to $1.6 million this year, Yoplait® is expanding its 12-year commitment to the fight against breast cancer and Susan G. Komen for the Cure®’s promise to end breast cancer forever. Along with fundraising activities, Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save Lives and related breast cancer campaigns will educate and encourage women of all ages to put their breast health first. To do this, Yoplait is collaborating with celebrity breast cancer surgeon Dr. Kristi Funk, founder and CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Nancy G. Brinker, and MTV star Audrina Patridge.

“There are 2.5 million people alive in the U.S. with a history of breast cancer and I want women to know that it’s not a death sentence,” says Dr. Kristi Funk of the Pink Lotus Breast Center. “I’m excited to work with Yoplait again this year to educate women about breast health, ways to support the cause, and valuable resources available to them – like Susan G. Komen for the Cure.”

A Promise to Fight Together

Working to arm women with educational tools to put their breast health first, Dr. Funk has again joined forces with Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save Lives program to educate women about risk reduction and early detection, and to encourage action to support the cause. Furthering the fight, Yoplait is also teaming up with Nancy G. Brinker in support of her new Promise Me book release and tour, bringing the inspirational story of the promise she made to her sister Suzy to end breast cancer forever to cities across the country.

“I made a promise to my sister 30 years ago to end breast cancer forever and am committed to fulfilling that promise for all women impacted by the disease,” says Brinker. “Thanks in part to passionate supporters, like Yoplait, I am confident we will see a world without breast cancer.”

Why Women Should ‘Know Your Girls’

In an effort to also engage with and help educate young women about the disease, Yoplait will continue to encourage young women to take an active role in their breast health through the Know Your Girls pledge. Audrina Patridge will again join Yoplait to help young women understand that women their age can and do get breast cancer. By visiting, young women can pledge to know what’s normal for them, become more aware of other risk factors, and encourage their friends to take an active role in their breast health and the effort to find a cure.

Save Lids to Save Lives Strives to Reach New Milestones

Through Save Lids to Save Lives, special pink lids will appear on Yoplait yogurt cups this fall starting in mid-September. For every pink lid saved and sent in by December 31, 2010, Yoplait will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, up to $1.6 million, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $500,000.

“Through the years, people have come together and proven that every lid really matters, helping Yoplait donate more than $25 million to the breast cancer cause,” says Catherine Cox Draper of Yoplait. “With the passionate support of lid collectors, we’re striving to reach our increased donation goal of $1.6 million for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.”

Yoplait products participating in Save Lids to Save Lives include all single serve yogurt cups – Original, Light, Thick & Creamy, Light Thick & Creamy, Whips! and select specially-marked packages of the Large Size Yoplait yogurts. And for the first time, Yoplait Greek, Yoplait Delights and Yoplait Frozen Smoothies will also include pink lids.
