SALINAS VALLEY, CA- The mornings are beginning to feel a lot cooler which is a sign the Salinas harvesting season is coming to an end. Before heading back to Yuma, AZ. the Labor of Love program is visiting a couple more teams to thank them for their hard work and service to the industry this past summer in the Salinas Valley.

In 2015, the Yuma community started a unique program, Labor of Love, for the opportunity to thank those for their hard work and service in agriculture on behalf of the industry as well as the community. It started as a grassroots effort by the Yuma Fresh Vegetable Association (YFVA) and has been in the Salinas Valley for two seasons now. This coming winter will be the third year the program is active in Yuma.

Yesterday morning, Taylor Farms and Labor of Love visited a group of men and women who work on the automated romaine harvester to supply fresh produce for Taylor Farms through the Automated Harvesting Company. They surprised the crew in Watsonville and provided kindness in the shape of breakfast burritos, gift cards and sweepstake items including winter hats and warm blankets.

“We believe in celebrating the talents, dedication and hard work of our team members,” said Adri Crawford of Taylor Farms. “Taylor Farms is extremely appreciative of the great work our employees do every day, and partnering with Labor of Love is one way to give our thanks.”

In addition, special prizes and recognition were given to two team members, Juan Ramos Pompa Guillen and Danny Garcia. Guillen is a machine operator who was recognized for his dedication to teaching and mentoring those around him. Guillen continuously strives to educate other team members on all facets of the operation, from machine safety practices to quality inspection. Danny Garcia was also recognized for efforts in his role as a Mechanic at Automated Harvesting Company. Garcia began his career in agriculture one year ago, and has quickly developed his skill set, becoming a key part of the team with his innovative ideas and work ethic.

“The Labor of Love program is an incredible way of showing our team how much we appreciate their dedication and expertise,” said Mark Bolding of Automated Harvesting. “This program brings a smile to our hardworking team as well as the people that lead it. Thank you so much, Taylor Farms and Labor of Love.”

Stay tuned to the Labor of Love Facebook page and the website to see where the Labor of Love team will share their gratitude next. For more information on the Labor of Love program, contact Jenna Hanson with Mavelle Media.
