Melbourne, Australia is the venue for the next meeting of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH).

Hosted in association with Nursery Garden Industry Australia (NGIA) from 20-23 March 2018 the week will include:

  • International Horticultural Expo Conference – Delegates can hear updates on developments and progress with upcoming AIPH-approved International Horticultural Exhibitions in Taichung 2018 (Chinese Taipei), Beijing 2019 (China), Yangzhou 2021 (China), Hatay 2021 (Turkey), Almere 2022 (Netherlands) as well as others in development and applications for expos in the future.
  • Understanding the global industry for ornamentals – AIPH will announce preliminary results from the AIPH International Vision Project which will identify the key trends for the future in terms of production and markets and how the industry can respond.
  • Plant Health – Delegates will hear from countries that have introduced industry-led plant health certification, including Australia and the UK as AIPH looks to address shared plant health concerns in the future.
  • International Green City Conference – In association with Principle R&D Partner, Hort Innovation, the conference will include high-level Green City speakers from Australia and around the world.  The conference aims to demonstrate how Green Cities are cities where people want to live, how it helps them and how ‘living green’ is used to achieve this.
  • Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show (MIFGS) – Delegates will get a guided tour of this very special event including show gardens and flower competitions.
  • Professional tours – Delegates will visit the exciting new production facility of Ball Australia as well as award-winning Mansfields Propagation Nursery and Melbourne Botanic Gardens.

Commenting on the event AIPH Secretary General, Tim Briercliffe said “We are delighted to be holding our next meeting in Australia where we know that delegates will learn a lot from their exciting initiatives in promoting Green City and nursery development.  The programme is full of insight and information that will benefit all those involved in the ornamental horticulture industry worldwide.”

Peter Vaughan, the CEO of Nursery and Garden Industry Australia said “we are delighted to be hosting the “Spring” AIPH meeting in Autumn/Fall in Melbourne.  This is the first time an AIPH meeting has been held in Australia and will provide an excellent opportunity for the exchange of ideas and to obtain updates on key issues in global ornamental horticulture.”

International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH)

Since 1948, AIPH has united horticultural producers in an international community that thrives to this day. Much has changed in that time. Technologies advanced, cities rose from the ground, and we have become more connected than ever. As a result, our essential bond with nature has been weakened. AIPH strives to reignite and uphold an appreciation of plants that we believe is a basic human instinct. We support the work of grower associations globally and together we champion a prosperous industry, growing plants that enhance lives, advance societies and sustain our planet, for this generation and the next.
