As the full-service fresh produce marketing and distribution company celebrates its 160th year in business, Oppy’s position among Canada’s Best Managed companies continues to stand the test of time.

When Canada’s top organizations were announced today, Oppy’s name was called for the 17th consecutive year, and the company was honored as a member of the Best Managed Platinum Club for the eleventh time.

Sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, Canadian Business Magazine, Queen's Smith School of Business, MacKay CEO Forums, and the TMX Group, Canada’s Best Managed Companies program recognizes organizations that have implemented world class business practices and created value in innovative ways. The Platinum Club honors top-performing companies that earn a place among the best for six years or more.

“It’s truly an honor to be named among Canada’s top companies,” said John Anderson, chairman president and CEO. “It’s a credit to our people, our culture and to the strategy that sustains our growth. It makes me extremely proud of all we have achieved, as I’ve watched our team face and overcome the daily challenges of our business by keeping our expect the world from us promise always at the forefront.”

Best Managed applications are reviewed annually by an independent judging panel that evaluates how companies address various business challenges, including new technologies, globalization, brand management, leadership, leveraging and developing core competencies, designing information systems and hiring the right talent to facilitate growth.

The accolades announced today recognize Oppy’s 2017 achievements, including launching a sweeping new berry partnership with Ocean Spray; introducing a highly successful Oceanside Pole Brussels sprouts program; increasing its organic portfolio with more colored bell peppers from Divemex; continuing to build a successful market for JAZZ™, Envy™ and Pacific Rose™ apples; developing demand for Zespri® SunGold kiwifruit—and Anderson himself being named among Canada’s Most Admired CEOs.
