HANFORD, CALIF. - Nichols Farms, the trusted source for premium quality pistachios and almonds, is today announcing additional steps they have taken to strengthen their focus on retail branded growth, innovation and marketing with the addition of two new strategic hires. The growing team, being led by newly hired Chief Sales & Marketing Officer Tristan Simpson, is joined by Shelbi Kautz as Associate Marketing Manager and Alex Gomez as National Retail Account Manager.

Nichols Farms, which takes pride in being a three-generation farming and processing operation, is expanding its marketing and sales focus in order to address an increase in supply and demand. With the launch of a new website and new products, such as Nic’s Mix®, Nichols is continuing their legacy as a pioneer leading the industry. With decades of farming expertise having earned them the trust of consumers, their work tells a story of preservation and growth that resonates with customers. Simpson is working to further this commitment with a strengthened team that will help Nichols Farms tackle the state of the industry today and further extend the name of the family owned and operated farm.

Shelbi Kautz, the first marketing hire by Nichols Farms, reports directly to Simpson and has filled a new position specifically created to help execute the marketing vision. Before Nichols Farms, Kautz worked for the Australian Eggs Limited in Sydney, Australia, the national governing body for eggs in Australia. Additionally, she has worked at other various organizations such as Oklahoma State University for the International Agriculture program and Superior Farms, the largest domestic lamb processor in the US.

“Having grown up on her family’s farm, Shelbi has lived and breathed the agricultural industry and learned at a young age the value of hard work and dedication,” said Simpson. “She is an emerging CPG marketer, with a passion for the industry. She is already helping Nichols Farms take strides forward in the market today and I could not be happier to have her a part of our team.”

Also joining the team is Alex Gomez as National Retail Account Manager, reporting directly to Rudy Placencia, Vice President of Sales. Gomez is charged with strategically expanding the brand’s retail presence. He joins Nichols Farms from Impact Group Brokerage, where he helped fuel double-digit growth and represented over 20 brands in multiple departments including WinCo, Albertson’s IM and Albertson’s Corporate. Prior to Impact Group Brokerage, Gomez held several positions with Wells Fargo.

“As we continue to roll out new products, expand the business and work to meet our customer demand, we recognize the need to focus on the growth of our retail presence,” said Rudy Placencia, VP of Sales. “We are excited to have Alex joining our team, as he has extensive experience and is taking the lead on generating additional retail business.”

Kautz and Gomez join Simpson and her team including Rudy Placencia, VP of Sales, Mary Aceves, Sales and Operations Planning Manager, Nick Rush and Charlotte Avila, National Account Managers, Kari Barnett, Sales Logistics Coordinator, and Connie Salgado, Sales Administrator.

“When I joined Nichols Farms, I knew it was vital to establish the right team of talented individuals who could help continue to execute our vision successfully with customers and consumers. I am confident that this dedicated team will continue to further establish Nichols Farms as the trusted brand our customers have come to love and trust,” says Simpson.
