With New Woburn Eatery, Owner Of Winchester’s Bagel Land Hopes For Another Hit

During his first week in the United States, Ehab Sadeek was on his way to his job at a bagel bakery in Woburn. He was staying in Cambridge and his only means of transportation was his friend’s bike. So there he was, in front of the dark highway in wee hours of the morning, ready to start his ambitious journey. In Egypt, Sadeek’s home country, he could bike anywhere, he said. A police officer showed up in time to dissuade Sadeek from making his dangerous trek.

Since that incident, a lot has happened, but bagels have become an overarching theme of Sadeek’s new life in the U.S. In 1998, Sadeek and his friend took over Winchester’s Bagel Land, then a small storefront on Main Street. After taking over a Baby Chips bakery in 2004 on Swanton Street, he got into the pastry business. Last year, Sadeek launched Gluten Free Me, a gluten-free cafe and online shop offering baked goods.

And now Sadeek is on to another venture. He had just opened a eatery and coffee shop inside a business center in Woburn, offering a full breakfast menu, including his signature bagels and muffins; rice bowls, sandwiches and fresh-squeezed juices. The store is an extension of Big Sky Bread company, another of Sadeek’s projects.
