 Tim Hortons Selling 50% Stake In Maidstone Bakeries To Joint Partner Aryzta

The bakery is currently operating at 55 percent capacity. Aryzta said it will now be able to market Maidstone to all its customers, including California-based Fresh Start Bakeries it purchased for $900 million in June. BMO Capital advised Aryzta on the Maidstone purchase, the baker said.

Following the lead of New York City, Albany County has banned trans fats in restaurants and bake shops. Restaurants seem to be dealing with the changes, but bakers have resisted -- arguing the ban is changing the taste and texture of products, especially cakes.
