 LoveTheWild Offering Seafood Meal Kits In Whole Foods Nationwide

LoveTheWild, a Boulder-based maker of frozen seafood meal kits, said Wednesday that it has signed a deal to sell its products at more than 420 Whole Foods Market stores nationwide. LoveTheWild first became available in Whole Foods stores in the company’s south region in fall 2016.

A report released today from Oceana Canada, Mystery Fish: Seafood Fraud in Canada and How to Stop It, revealed alarming results of seafood fraud in the nation's capital. Almost half of the samples tested -- 45 out of 98 -- were mislabelled. One-third (33) were considered species substitution, since the name on the menu or label did not match the type of fish being sold.

One of the topics of concern raised during the 2017 Scientific Meeting of the National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System (“NARMS”) was the failure of the system to address antibiotic use in aquaculture and to monitor antimicrobial resistant pathogens present on seafood products sold in the United States.


 Fall Shrimp Harvest Down In South Carolina

Wildlife officials in South Carolina say the fall white shrimp harvest is down this year. Grace Edwards with Shem Creek Fisheries told The Post and Courier of Charleston there just aren't many shrimp in the water this fall.
