The competition held by The Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation (AFDF) enlists chefs and industry experts to pick the best new seafood products each year. Alaskan Leader Seafoods won the 2018 Symphony of Seafood's "Best in Retail" for its Lemon Herb Butter Marinated Cod along with "Best in Beyond the Plate" for its Cod Crunchies pet treats.

Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation (AFDF) announced the 1st place winners of the Alaska Symphony of Seafood during Pacific Marine Expo in Seattle, on Friday, November 17th. The Alaska Symphony of Seafood is an annual contest for new value‐added products made from Alaska Seafood. The goal of the Symphony is to increase the value of Alaska Seafood by encouraging product development which diversifies markets, utilizes more of the resource, and reduces fish waste.

 Nations Decide To Increase Quota For Atlantic Bluefin Tuna

Countries fishing the eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean agreed Tuesday to expand the annual quota for prized Bluefin tuna to reflect an improvement in their stocks. Environmentalists insisted the increase was excessive and premature.
