MONTVALE, N.J. - September 4, 2009 — Shoppers in Stamford, Conn., now have a shopping experience like no other. The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (A&P) (NYSE:GAP) today unveiled its newest A&P Fresh store at 1201 High Ridge Road. Previously The Food Emporium, the newly renovated A&P Fresh store offers customers a true “one-stop” gourmet shopping experience with the finest fresh foods and quality groceries, all within an innovative European market design.

  • Bakery — A sumptuous array of freshly baked, delicious muffins, rolls, pies, cookies and breads are made on premise in the European-style bakery shop, including A&P’s signature cheesecakes, mouth-watering New Zealand butter croissants and gourmet cakes. Complementing these items are artisan breads baked in-store from an old-world brick oven and available in a myriad of shapes and flavors.
  • Tea and Coffee — For nearly 150 years, A&P has been offering the finest tea and coffee from around the world, and the tradition continues with an intriguing selection.
  • Floral Shop — The A&P Fresh store would not be complete without a floral shop, featuring unique and beautiful flowers such as locally grown orchids and a variety of mixed first-class bouquets, perfect for any type of celebration or just for everyday enjoyment.

In addition to the “shops within the store” and the traditional center grocery section, the new Stamford A&P Fresh boasts a vast selection of organic and natural products. These items range from fresh produce to deli meats and seafood. All of the organic products are grown without the use of pesticides and fertilizers and are guaranteed to be fresh every day. Moreover, these natural items are minimally processed and manufactured without artificial ingredients or preservatives.
