Lifeway Foods Expands Kefir Retail Distribution

Lifeway Foods, Inc., a leading supplier of cultured dairy products known as kefir and organic kefir, announced expanded distribution of their flagship line, Kefir, into 125 Galaxy stores, 111 Lowes supermarkets, 85 IGA supermarkets, and 81 Sam's Club retail locations. Lifeway's kefir will officially be available to consumers in the four major retailers as of December 1, 2011 and the Company expects to expand marketing and advertising to support sales at the retail chains.

Raw-milk advocates counter that pasteurization kills flavor, as well as beneficial bacteria and the nutrients that make milk healthful. They argue that far more illnesses are attributed to poorly handled pasteurized milk than raw. At the very least, they say, consumers should have the freedom to choose the dairy products they want. Idaho is one of only a handful of states that give consumers that choice.

Government Of Canada Invests To Strengthen Seafood Market Access

The Government of Canada is partnering with three industry organizations to put in place the building blocks for a fish and seafood traceability system that will enhance the sector's competitiveness at home and abroad, Parliamentary Secretary Pierre Lemieux announced in Ottawa today, on behalf of Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz. The announcement was made at a Seafood Value Chain Round Table meeting that brings together the entire industry as well as government representatives, to discuss ways to make the sector more competitive and increase sales worldwide.
