The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is asking a federal court to prevent a New York cheese manufacturer from operating because of a history of unsanitary conditions and producing cheese in a facility contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.

Hilmar Cheese Will Expand, Add 100 Jobs

Hilmar Cheese Co. plans to add an administration building in a field across August Avenue from its visitor center. Officials expect the move to generate about 100 jobs in addition to the estimated 770 positions already at the Hilmar facility and 330 positions at the company's Dalhart, Texas, site.
