Georgia Cheeses Recalled For Potential Health Risk

Agriculture Commissioner Gary W. Black is alerting Georgians to the recall of Flat Creek Farm & Dairy’s Heavenly Blue and Aztec Cheddar cheeses, sold in Georgia and Florida, because the products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Georgia Department of Agriculture inspectors will be checking retail stores and food warehouses to make sure the recalled product is removed from sale. DFA, Dairylea Merger Expected To Be A 'Smooth Transition'

The boards of Dairy Farmers of America, the largest U.S. marketing cooperative, and Dairylea Cooperative Inc. struck a preliminary agreement in October to merge. The co-ops, which are owned by dairy farmers who produce milk they sell, said the consolidation would boost market opportunities.
