Tyson Introduces New Chicken Glazers

Springdale, AR – Tyson Chicken Glazers, tender chunks of boneless, unbreaded breast meat, is a unique product designed for maximum consumer appeal, as well as ease of operations in the deli.

As for product performance, they are formulated to stay fresher longer in the hot case, and to maximize sauce adhesion. Chicken Glazers are quick to prepare and sauce right in the deli, similar to a wing or boneless wing product, but without the breading. The result is a product that is moist and tender inside, with excellent texture outside.

Chicken Glazers products come in three Asian sauce varieties: Honey Garlic Chicken Glazers, Sweet Chili Chicken Glazers, and Spicy Mongolian Chicken Glazers. Asian style entrées 1 represent the single largest category in deli entrées and Asian is the top cuisine type for order interest at restaurants. 2

Two classic sauces are also offered, Barbeque Chicken Glazers, and Buffalo Style Chicken Glazers. These sauces are the top two wing and boneless wing flavors. Over 68% of consumers stated that Chicken Glazers would be a welcome new option to chicken meals they tend to buy. 3 "This gives retailers the opportunity to generate incremental sales," stated Eric Le Blanc, Director of Sales Development.

Tyson has validated Chicken Glazers in consumer testing, and purchase intent was almost identical to rotisserie chicken, a benchmark product (58% / 59% respectively). 4 "Tyson Chicken Glazers appeal to consumers looking for an alternative to the usual breaded chicken product such as a boneless wing," stated Le Blanc. "The vast majority we spoke to agreed that not only is this a natural snacking option in the handheld chicken category, but also could serve as a restaurant quality entrée, something that could be easily matched with a side to round out the meal."
