Washington, D.C. – The American Bakers Association (ABA) applauds the U.S. House of Representatives on the passage of H.R. 3441 – the Save Local Business Act. “This is a big step forward on reversing the overreach of the Obama-era NLRB,” said Robb MacKie, ABA President & CEO.
H.R. 3441 passed by a vote of 242 – 181. The bill limits the extent to which bakers could be held responsible for the actions of outside franchisees and contractors, and rolls back the 2015 National Labor Relations Board (NRLB) Browning-Ferris decision expanding the definition of joint-employment.
“ABA is extremely grateful for the leadership shown by sponsors Reps. Bradley Byrne (AL-01) and Virginia Foxx (NC-05),” said Mike Goscinski, ABA Director of Government Relations. “Bakers now look to the Senate for swift passage and to provide certainty around the joint-employer issue,” added Goscinski.
H.R. 3441 was a key vote for ABA.
