Schoolhouse Gluten-Free Gourmet Baked Goods At Top Of Class

“Eight years ago Jen and I started our business, got married and bought the schoolhouse. All in one summer,” says Aidan Brunn, co-owner of Schoolhouse Gluten-Free Gourmet.

Jen is Jen Laughlin, Brunn’s business partner and wife. The schoolhouse is a 150-year old former schoolhouse along the western shore of Nova Scotia that Brunn and Laughlin bought to use as a wholesale production facility for their gluten-free bakery business.

“Jen and I met working in the restaurant industry years ago in Halifax and, after some time, we decided to take a break from that,” says Brunn. “We both started working for a seasonal sea kayaking business with a plan to spend six months working in Canada, and six months each year travelling abroad.”
