The Return Of ‘Amy’s Bread’

Amys Bread, the iconic Manhattan bakery whose original “Amys Bread” cookbook
has been out of print for years, is back in the publishing business, with a
revised edition featuring recipes and techniques that will put artisan bread
within your reach.

The updated book, from Amys Bread founders Amy Scherber and Toy Kim Dupree,
begins with such basics as creating your own sourdough starters (including one
with a rye) and progresses with such recipes as crispy bread sticks with anise,
coriander and mustard seeds, whole-wheat challah, and rustic black olive and
sweet red pepper loaves.

A handful of sandwich recipes the very ones sold at Amys bakeries in
Manhattan are included.
