Funds For Fuel Up To Play 60 Awarded To Wisconsin Schools

Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board has selected 21 Wisconsin Schools to receive a total of $18,500 to kick-off back to school Fuel Up to Play 60 initiatives. Fuel Up to Play 60 is a nation-wide program that encourages students to eat healthy by including low-fat and fat-free dairy, fruits, vegetables and whole grains and achieve at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day.

Jason Amundsen liked his flock of five chickens, which he and his wife kept in their Duluth backyard. The eggs were delicious. So, he thought, why not get a few more — about 1,795 more — raise them in the fresh air and sunshine, give them clean feed and good grass, and let all of Duluth have a good egg for breakfast? Now, Locally Laid eggs have landed on the shelves at Whole Foods Co-op and Homecroft Foods in late August, and the hens already have fans among Locally Laid’s wholesale customers.
