Rural Vermont Surveying Raw Milk Producers For 2012 Raw Milk Report

Rural Vermont is requesting all raw milk producers across the state participate in a survey on raw milk sales in Vermont. The Vermont Legislature has requested that Rural Vermont present data to the House and Agricultural Committees representing the viability of raw milk sales in the state. Farmers who sell raw milk will be asked questions ranging from gross annual sales to issues encountered with the current law. The motivation behind this comprehensive survey is to gather valuable information to convince policy makers that raw milk is a growing and important part of Vermont’s agricultural economy.

Appleton Farms Now Selling Milk To The Public

The Jersey cow, known for producing milk with higher protein, calcium and fat content than other breeds, was introduced to America by the Appleton family. Now the public can purchase milk from Appleton Farms’ herd of Jerseys at the historic, 1,000 acre farm off Route 1A on the Hamilton/Ipswich line.

New Jersey Raw Milk Vote Expected Soon

A bill that would allow New Jersey dairy farmers to sell raw milk directly to consumers remains before a state Senate committee, but its chairman has promised there will be a vote before this legislative session ends early next month.
