Flower growers in Kenya are seeking to consolidate new markets in Asia and the US as airlines begin direct flights to these destinations.

90% Of Growers Vote In Favor Of Promotion Plan For 'PurE Seasonal Flowers'

On Wednesday, April 3, almost 91 percent (by turnover) of the represented growers from the summer flowers, ornamental berries and forced shrubs and bulb flower assortment group voted in favour of the promotion plan for PurE seasonal flowers. Since the General Members’ Meeting of FloraHolland in December 2012, members have had the option to request a vote for a product-specific promotion.

Senate Group Reaches Landmark Agreement On Immigration Reform Agriculture Provisions

The American Nursery & Landscape Association (ANLA) and its partner, OFA – The Association of Horticulture Professionals, applaud a landmark agreement in principle on the agricultural provisions of the Senate immigration reform bill. The agreement was reached earlier today by the Agriculture Workforce Coalition (AWC), of which ANLA is a founding member; the United Farm Workers (UFW); and key Senators engaged in the process.

Cut Flower Growers Announce 2013 Scholarship Winner

The Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers (ASCFG) has selected a recipient of its Dave Dowling Scholarship. The ASCFG Dave Dowling Scholarship is named for a cut flower grower in Maryland. Dave Dowling is a long-time member of the ASCFG, has served on its board as a Regional Director and President, and has hosted several meetings at his Farmhouse Flowers and Plants. He is known for his encouragement and involvement of students and other young farmers in the cut flower industry. The Scholarship was named after him to recognize his contributions to the Association, and to the cut flower industry.
