The Board of Directors of the Canadian Meat Council welcomes confirmation that the review of meat hygiene, handling and sanitation procedures at XL Lakeside in Brooks, Alberta has been completed and that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has verified food safety controls are being implemented effectively and consistently. The announcement was made earlier today by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. As indicated by XL Foods and JBS USA on October 17, the XL Lakeside facility will be managed by JBS when it resumes operations.
