Poultry Industry Opposes Rules On Union Elections Proposed By NLRB

Proposed changes in union election procedures make it “almost impossible” to stage fair elections, poultry industry groups said in filing comments opposing the National Labor Relations Board’s proposed rules. The comments were prepared by the Joint Poultry Industry Human Resources Council, comprising the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, National Chicken Council and National Turkey Federation. Collectively, the three organizations represent companies that produce 95 percent of the nation’s poultry products and employ more than 300,000 workers.

FPL Food Expands Georgia Food Processing Operation, Opens New Facility

Gov. Nathan Deal announced Tuesday that Augusta-based FPL Food, LLC, will expand its beef processing operation in Richmond County by opening a new processing facility, creating up to 100 new jobs. The company will also invest $3 million in this expansion.

Oregonians Russell Kool of Hillsboro, OR and Timmy Baker of Eugene, OR today were named winners in the Oregon Regional Finals of the Second Annual Foster Farms Fresh Chicken Cooking Contest held at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Portland. These two Finalists each won a $1,000 cash prize and will compete at the Finals in person on September 30, 2011, at The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, in California's Napa Valley.
