Hormel Foods Corporate has announced the advancement of Robert G. Samples to vice president of sales and marketing at Farmer John (Vernon, Calif.). In his new role, Samples will be accountable for the retail and foodservice sales and marketing functions for Farmer John. He will report to Greg N. Longstreet, president of Farmer John, and will transition to his new position by Oct. 30, 2011.

Chicago Boxed Beef Distributors Recalls Raw & Ready-To-Eat Sausage Products

Chicago Boxed Beef Distributors Inc., a Shorewood, Ill., establishment is recalling approximately 3,200 pounds of raw and ready-to-eat sausage products that were not handled in a manner to prevent cross contamination between raw and ready-to-eat products. In addition, the product label used by the company was not approved by FSIS.

Beef Board Budget Dips More Than 20% In Five Years

The Beef Promotion Operating Committee has recommended a $42 million Cattlemen’s Beef Board budget for Fiscal 2012, reflecting a 2.1 percent decrease from the Fiscal 2011 budget and down more than 20 percent from 2007.
