It is one of many similar programs throughout the state — often called sea-to-plate, or boat-to-fork — in which the digital arena is bridging the gap between Gulf of Mexico waters and the dining table.

The Marine Stewardship Council announced that The Foley Fish Company, a fourth generation, family-owned, New England seafood business, renowned for its commitment to quality and stewardship, has obtained Chain of Custody certification in the Marine Stewardship Council program.  The company sells to fine dining restaurants, resorts, hotels and specialty retailers across the country.

Dungeness Crab Season Opening Delayed Coastwide

A decision has been made by the Directors of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and the California Department of Fish and Game to delay the opening of the 201213 Coastal Dungeness crab fishery coastwide (from Point Arena north) until at least December 15, 2012.

Louisiana Agencies Get $16 Million In BP Funds For Seafood, Tourism

More than 100 nonprofit organizations and government entities will share almost $44 million in BP funds to promote Gulf Coast tourism and the seafood industries impacted by the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster, the court-appointed oil-spill claims administrator said.
