a2 Milk Company Expands In Northeast Capitalizing On Strong Momentum

NEW YORK — The a2 Milk Company™, capitalizing on strong consumer demand, today announced a major expansion in the US market with products now available to consumers throughout the Northeast.

The Australian headquartered Dairy Nutrition Company has seen an explosion of consumer demand as major retail outlets stock the products across the US.

“The consumer demand for our products has been terrific. We started quietly in California in 2015, began the rollout across the west and in national natural food chains in 2016 and then in 2017 we developed a major presence in the Southeast.

“The Northeast, home to roughly 60 million consumers, will give us exposure to about 20% of the milk volume category in the U.S,” said The a2 Milk Company™ US CEO Blake Waltrip.

The rollout of a2 Milk® branded fresh cows’ milk in the Northeast will begin immediately and continue over the coming months with products arriving at major grocers including Stop & Shop, Giant Carlisle, Giant Landover and ShopRite. When the expansion is fully implemented, a2 Milk® will be available to consumers in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine in more than 1,400 new locations.

The majority of cows’ milk consumed in America contains two main types of beta-casein proteins, A1 and A2 protein. Published research suggests that the A1 protein in ordinary cows’ milk is often associated with discomfort and digestive issues in people who show symptoms similar to lactose intolerance.

The a2 Milk Company™ works with local dairy farmers to identify cows that only produce the A2 protein type and process their milk separately, making it possible for those with sensitivities to enjoy pure, cows’ milk.
