Aurora Organic Dairy Named Best Fluid Milk Plant

BOULDER, Colo. — Aurora Organic Dairy, a leading U.S. provider of high-quality private-label organic milk and butter, today announced it has been recognized as the “Best Fluid Milk Plant” by the All Star Dairy Association (ASDA) at its 52nd annual conference in Las Vegas, Nev. The ASDA is a membership-based organization specializing in consolidated procurement and dairy industry best practices.

“We are extremely proud to be recognized by the All Star Dairy Association for Quality Assurance,” said Jay Wilson, senior vice president of supply chain for Aurora Organic Dairy. “Producing and processing the highest quality organic milk on the market is our top priority. We’d like to recognize our farm, quality and plant teams for their industry-leading quality standards.”

Of the 32 member organizations participating in the quality assurance program, Aurora Organic Dairy received the highest combined score in the milk category. Third-party plant audits, sensory testing and micro testing were conducted by Randolph Associates, Inc., an international audit firm specializing in the food and dairy industries. Aurora Organic was also recognized by ASDA as “Best Fluid Milk Plant” in 2008, only one year after joining the association.

“Each year the All Star Dairy Association recognizes excellence among our member dairy companies,” said Jeff Sterne, Executive Director of the All Star Dairy Association. “Recognition for Quality Assurance in the milk category twice in three years is a great achievement for Aurora Organic Dairy and we are proud to have a dairy with such high standards as part of the All Star Dairy Association.”

Aurora Organic Dairy is a vertically integrated organic milk producer and processor. The milk produced on AOD’s certified organic dairy farms in Colorado and Texas is processed at its fluid milk plant in Platteville, Colo. This plant is dedicated to only organic processing and manufactures both pasteurized (HTST) and ultra-pasteurized (UP) milk. Aurora Organic Dairy’s quality staff conducts comprehensive microbial, temperature and sensory testing throughout its integrated production cycle, resulting in some of the highest quality and longest shelf life in the organic milk category.
