General Mills To Expand Murfreesboro Plant, Add 80 Jobs

Food giant General Mills said today that it would spend $100 million to expand its plant on Butler Drive in Murfreesboro to make more of its popular Yoplait yogurt, adding about 80 jobs.

Construction will begin within a month and be finished in about 18 months, General Mills spokeswoman Kirstie Foster said, adding that no information was available yet about when hiring would begin for the new positions.

The move will expand the company’s present Yoplait production capability at the facility, which now has 832 employees,” said Holly Sears, vice president for economic development at the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce.
