PA Gov. Vetoes Bill That Would Let Milk Haulers Drive on Roads During Travel Bans

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Gov. Tom Wolf has vetoed a bill that would have exempted milk haulers from commercial vehicle bans imposed during a declaration of disaster emergency. Some lawmakers said the decision will hurt the dairy industry.

House Bill 915 would have allowed milk shippers to use their judgment when roads are closed to commercial vehicles under travel bans due to disaster emergencies like snowstorms.

Sen. Judy Ward and Jim Gregory said dairy distributors will now have to dump their milk and lose revenue when roads are closed.
