ShopRite Donates 6,300 Gallons Of Milk To Food Bank

On Nov. 15, ShopRite delivered the first installment of 6,300 gallons of milk to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, southern branch, thanks to generous donations from the community. Dozens of ShopRite associates were at the food bank as part of the food bank's yearly holiday volunteer event.

Through Feeding America, ShopRite joined the Community FoodBank of New Jersey in The Great American Milk Drive initiative to deliver fresh, nutrient-rich milk to local kids in need. Throughout October, customers at ShopRite stores in Vineland, Hammonton, Rio Grande, Marmora, Somers Point, Egg Harbor Township, Galloway, and Absecon were able to make a donation at checkout to help feed a child right here in our own community.

Childhood should be filled with playing, learning and growing. But for many children who face hunger, even basic staples like milk — and the nutrients that help power childhood activities — are missing. More than 46 million Americans — including 12 million children — rely on Feeding America food banks each year. Milk is one of the most requested but least donated items at food banks, meaning children in need often miss out on the essential nutrients that milk supplies.
