Two family-owned dairies with long legacies in the Pittsburgh region are joining forces.
Penn Hills-based Turner Dairy Farms announced on Thursday it has acquired Colteryahn Dairy in Carrick — the last operating dairy in the City of Pittsburgh. Colteryahn’s Brownsville Road milk processing plant will remain open but will be renamed as Pittsburgh Special-T Dairy.
The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
“The Turner and Colteryahn families have worked diligently to bring our family dairy companies together,” said Chuck Turner Jr., the third-generation president of Turner’s, in a press release. “We’re excited about Turner’s future and expanding our reach to families throughout Western Pennsylvania.”
