Umpqua Dairy Receives International Quality Awards

ROSEBURG, OR. Locally owned Umpqua Dairy has received the highest national award from the Quality Chekd Dairy Association. The award recognizes the best overall dairy company within the association comprised of numerous dairies throughout the United States and Latin America. Umpqua was presented the Weber Award last week at a banquet in Florida.

“This is a huge recognition for our family-owned company and shows the pride our employees take in providing the best dairy products,” said Steve Feldkamp, Chief Operating Officer at Umpqua Dairy. “Our employees deserve all the credit.”

The award represents the highest honor for overall quality throughout the Quality Chekd organization. Finalists are judged based on effective implementation of quality focus in all areas, from processes and products to customer service and satisfaction at a single plant location. Umpqua Dairy beat two other finalists, Alqueria Dairy, of Santa Marta, Colombia and United Dairy, Inc., Charleston, WV.

According to Quality Chekd, Umpqua Dairy demonstrates a commitment to quality excellence in the categories of leadership, culture, production, sustainability and business ethics.

Umpqua Dairy also won the ice cream Production Excellence Award, which recognizes outstanding processors based on selection criteria that include a plant audit, evaluation of all plant processes and systems for assuring product quality evaluation results. Umpqua beat seven other finalists for having the best Quality Chekd ice cream production facility.
