Violife Wants Cheese Lovers to “Change Your Cheese” to Change the Planet in the New Year

Cheese lovers can indulge and lower their climate impact by choosing Violife® vegan cheese instead of dairy cheese. A new study shows that Violife cheese products have less than half the carbon footprint of dairy cheese2

The study included two Violife non-dairy cheeses that are available in the U.S., Violife Creamy Original Cream Cheese and Violife Feta Flavor Block and showed that these products have less than half the climate footprint and occupy less than one third of the land when compared to the same amount of dairy cheese.

The findings are from a metric-based life cycle assessment study that evaluated the end-to-end environmental impact of Violife including, greenhouse gas emissions, waste production, water, land, and energy use, which were calculated over the life cycle of the product from the harvesting of raw materials to the end-of-life use by consumers. The study was conducted by Upfield in partnership with leading sustainability advisor Quantis3.

The findings are the motivation behind Violife’s “Change Your Cheese” campaign.

“Change Your Cheese” to Change Our Planet Campaign

Violife’s new ‘Change Your Cheese’ campaign encourages cheese loving consumers to lighten their impact on the planet simply by changing out dairy cheese for non-dairy cheese even with swapping into a few meals.

The campaign shows everyday foodie moments such as dining out, indulging at the movies, and cooking at home and introduces Violife’s “change” meals by creatively switching out the word “cheese” for “change”. Violife vegan cheeses dispel the myth that plant-based or vegan foods do not taste or perform like their dairy counterparts. As part of the Campaign, Violife has recreated yummy classics like the “Change” Burger, Nachos N’ “Change” and “Change” cake showing that you do not have to be vegan to make a difference on our planet.

Eat Vegan to Plant a Tree

Violife is also a gold sponsor of Veganuary in the U.S., a global movement aimed at encouraging people to sign up to the challenge of going vegan in January. To encourage consumers to make the switch, Violife is partnering with One Tree Planted to plant up to 10,000 trees based on the number of vegan meals our consumers enjoy. For every five vegan meals our consumer register, Violife supports One Tree Planted in planting one tree. Consumers can register to support this effort by visiting the Violife website starting January 1, 2022, to submit their meal count.

The Campaign will be delivered through video, social, PR, influencer and digital channels and launched across the globe.  For more inspiration to “Change Your Cheese” visit www.violifefoods.com.
