GARNER, N.C. Butterball, LLC is announces that its Ozark and Huntsville, AR, facilities were recognized by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administrations Voluntary Protection Program (OSHA VPP) with the highest of safety ratings, Super Star Amongst Stars and Star Amongst Stars respectively, at the 2010 OSHA VPP Region VI conference. One of several OSHA cooperative programs, the VPP strives to recognize workplaces for their excellence in occupational health and safety and serves as the nations highest safety certification.
The Ozark facility received the VPP Super Star Amongst Stars certification for achieving injury and illness rates 75 percent or below the national poultry industry average, in addition to meeting stringent VPP criteria for safety and health programs. The Huntsville, Ark. facility received the VPP Star Amongst Stars certification signifying the plant achieved injury and illness rates 50 percent or below the poultry industry average.
Butterball, LLC is recognized as an industry leader for its distinguished worker safety programs. Five of the companys seven plants have been recognized by OSHAs VPP for continuously implementing practices that lower injury occurrences and encourage high levels of employee participation at success rates significantly higher than industry averages.
