Hingham, MA— Venus Wafers today announced it will be launching Non-GMO (genetically modified organisms) certified water crackers under its brand, The Original Mariner Biscuit Company. With this verification, Venus will display the Non-GMO Project seal of approval on its new packaging and expanded range of water crackers. The Non-GMO Project offers North America’s only independent verification for products made according to best practices for GMO avoidance.
GMO’s have been linked to potential harmful effects to health and the environment, resulting in the escalation of allergens and reproductive and immune system issues, as well the thought that they may contain carcinogenic characteristics. “We care deeply about this issue and giving our customers the highest quality ingredients for their health and enjoyment. We believe people have the right to know what they are eating,” said Venus Wafers President Michael Thompson. “The re-launch of our Original Mariner Biscuit Company brand is the first step in gaining Non-GMO verification for the Venus Wafers’ family of brands. We are committed to being a completely Non-GMO commercial bakery.”

The Original Mariner Biscuit Company Water Crackers have also been verified Vegan by the Vegan Action/Vegan Awareness Foundation and certified Kosher by the Orthodox Union and will carry both of these symbols as well.
