Yancey’s Fancy is ‘Big Cheese’ Again at State Fair

CORFU — To call Yancey’s Fancy Chastinet cheese popular is a bit of an understatement.

The Corfu cheesemaker’s award-winning product won Grand Champion and Gold awards back in 2016 at the New York State Fair. And now it’s repeated its glory, winning a second grand champion award on Thursday during fair’s 43rd annual Dairy Day.

“We are extremely proud and happy to hear that we won Grand Champion,” said Mark Mosco, the plant affineur and master cheesemaker at Yancey’s Fancy. “The cheese was created by Brian Bailey and was named after a cheesemaker whom he worked with many years ago. He wanted to tribute the cheese to him for all that he taught him.
