Los Angeles – A little more than a month ago, Mayesh Wholesale Florist revealed its next Mayesh Design Star, Jodi Duncan AIFD. To find the 2013 Mayesh Design Star winner, it takes almost 2 whole months from accepting video submissions, conducting interviews, narrowing the results, opening online voting to the public, and finally announcing the winners – the runner up and grand prize.
Mayesh’s runner up prize winner, Jerome Raska AIFD, PFCI, AAF, CF (of Blumz … by JRDesigns), took home a $500.00 gift certificate for their choice of product from Unlimited Containers, Inc. (UCI).
As our grand prize winner, Jodi Duncan AIFD, will not only become our next Mayesh Design Star, but also receive UCI vessels for each month of shooting, her own page on our website, and a choice between 2 trips – the WAFA World Flower Show in Ireland OR the Chelsea Flower Show in London.
When asked why she entered the contest, Duncan replied,“I love a challenge & enjoy competitions. I never want to stop growing or trying new things, so I always look for ways to stretch and grow personally & professionally. The contest was a perfect opportunity. I had tried out the year before, but I never want to quit something until I win.”
The videos are a great way to reach out and give back to the floral industry. With nearly 11 months of video uploads under Mayesh’s belts, “The Art of Flowers” 2012 series featuring Mandy Majerik AIFD, PFCI has already gained well over 100,000 views! “We are so proud of Mandy for taking our concept and turning it into something that we could never dream of. Once we realized what we had, we were a bit nervous about what was going to happen for our next season. But after finalizing the contest, I truly cannot wait to begin filming because Jodi has so many great ideas! She is taking this opportunity, owning it, and inscribing her own signature. 2013 is going to be a fresh and beautiful year!” says Yvonne Ashton, Director of Marketing for Mayesh Wholesale Florist.
