Amaranthus: Remarkable & Versatile

Amaranthus will give each summer bouquet an elegant appearance.

Crimson red

The Amaranthus is also referred to as ‘Love lies bleeding’ because it was used to stem bleeding in the Middle ages. The plant can be found in either hanging or standing varieties. Amaranthus caudatus has for example, hanging, crimson red or light green flower plumes. There is also a deep purple variety. Amaranthus is also used as a dried flower.

Immortality

Amaranthus is an annual plant, which belongs to the amaranth family (Amarantaceae). Originally it comes from the tropics of South America. The name originates from marainesthai which means to wither, but the ‘A’ is a denial; the flower doesn’t wither. Amaranthus is a symbol of Immortality.
