Great Lakes Floral Association Announces Recent Board of Director Election Results

Haslett, MI – The Great Lakes Floral Association is pleased to announce the results of the recent Board of Directors elections for 2021. 

Elected as Director At Large: Doug Vos – Don’s Flowers & Gifts, Zeeland, MI

Doug has been involved in the retail floral business his entire life.  Growing up as the son of a 2nd generation florist, he began his career sweeping floors at a young age.  Today, Doug along with his wife Ginny and daughter Katie direct a staff of 35 at 2 locations.  Don’s Flowers & Gifts is a full service florist, Interior Plantscaper, and gift shop including a full service Coffee shop in downtown Zeeland, MI.  Betty’s Hallmark shop is a Hallmark Gold Crown card and specialty gift shop located in Grand Rapids, MI.

Elected as Region One Director: John Okar – Kennicott Brothers Co. Warren, MI

John joined Nordlie’s/ Kennicott Brothers in March 2019, as the Branch Manager. Prior to that he spent the previous two years as the General Manger at a food wholesaler called Restaurant Depot. The largest part of his working career was right before that at Home Depot. I started as an associate working my way up to Store Manager. His work career has a long history of leadership and operation excellence. 

Elected as Region Three Director: Teresa Cytlak – Ridgeway Floral, Three Rivers, MI

Teresa has had the pleasure of serving on the Great Lakes Floral Association (GLFA) Board of Directors over the past several years.  She believes in what the GLFA stands for and does for its members. The Certified Florist program, the Great Lakes Floral & Event Expo and Scholarship programs help bring education to its members, which is something she feels is important as an owner, designer and mentor in this wonderful industry.

The Great Lakes Floral Association is a multi-state full service trade organization representing more than 400 florists, growers, wholesalers, and 150 Certified Florist (CF). Located in Haslett, Michigan, GLFA offers group savings on insurance, financial services, credit card processing and supplies, office supplies; is the sponsor of the Certified Florist (CF) program; creates and hosts the annual Great Lakes Floral & Event Expo; conducts educational seminars throughout the year at the association headquarters and various other facilities; publishes The Professional Florist magazine; hosts the GLFA website, and interacts with state/federal government agencies.
