San Diego County Flower & Plant Association Honors Rene van Rems with 2019 Industry Icon Award

Carlsbad, Calif.,  – Continuing its annual tradition, the San Diego County Flower & Plant Association (SDCF&PA) announced the recipient of its prestigious Industry Icon Award for 2019, recognizing exemplary accomplishments in and contributions to the horticulture industry. This year, the association will bestow the award to Rene van Rems, internationally acclaimed floral designer and a lifelong supporter of the SDCF&PA.

Throughout his career of 40+ years, Rene van Rems has been an avid supporter of the floral industry on a regional, national and international level. He is a well-known speaker at industry events and has appeared on numerous TV and radio programs. Recognized as an expert in his field, van Rems is the recipient of several industry awards and distinctions, including the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) “Distinguished Service to the Industry” award and the “Award of Design Influence.” Above all, van Rems is known to be generous in volunteering his time and expertise for the benefit of the industry and for various non-profit organizations.

Rene van Rems will be presented with the award at the SDCF&PA’s annual dinner, taking place on June 27th at the San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas, California. The award will be presented by last year’s recipient, Jan Hall of Target Specialty Products. The event will also recognize the 2019 scholarship award recipients and serve as installation of the 2019-2020 slate of Board of Directors.
