From Pasture To Plate: Wisconsin’s Beef Industry Delivers

MADISON With more than 14,000 farms raising beef in Wisconsin, each operation
is as unique as the family who runs it. All, however, share a common goal: to
provide consumers with tasty, healthy beef.

Wisconsin beef producers are diversifying their operations to meet the changing
needs of consumers. Some have adapted their businesses to raise grass-fed beef,
while others are certified organic or branding products as all natural. While
each type of beef offers something different to the consumer, all share a common
denominator: taste, nutrition and safety.

During the next few months, the Wisconsin Beef Council, a producer-funded,
producer-directed organization, will be profiling different beef producers
across the state, in an effort to better introduce the faces behind the states
growing beef industry. As an introduction, here are four common types of beef
now produced in Wisconsin:
