It hasn’t been a good week to be a pig in Iowa, but for bacon lovers it has
been heaven.
Six hundred bacon fans from around the nation will gather today for the third
annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival to devour 1,050 pounds of the sweet and salty
meat. That’s the equivalent of about 55 pigs’ worth of bacon.
The event will be held at the Scottish Rite Consistory, 519 Park St. in Des
Moines.
“This is known as the premiere bacon festival, probably in the world,” said
Jason Mosley, aka Mr. Bacon Pants.
