Nathan’s Famous & Schnuck Markets Team Up To Make Donation To Folds Of Honor Foundation

ST. LOUIS  — Nathan’s Famous® and Schnuck Markets surprised one exceptional Folds of Honor Foundation military family with a year’s worth of all-beef hot dogs this past weekend at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri.

Prior to the hot dog eating contest qualifying event held at the stadium, Nathan’s Famous presented the special surprise to Folds of Honor Foundation beneficiary, McKenzie MacMillan. Her father, Lt. Col. Don MacMillan, and mother, Tiffany MacMillan, joined her on the field. Lt. Col. Don MacMillan served more than 20 years in the United States Army before he was disabled in the line of duty. Through support from the Folds of Honor Foundation, McKenzie MacMillan is now a sophomore pursuing a Nursing Degree at the University of Missouri.

“The Folds of Honor Foundation is incredibly grateful for organizations like Nathan’s Famous and Schnuck Markets that help to make our work possible,” said Major Dan Rooney, Founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation. “Our organization seeks to inspire community members to join us in giving hope to the families of America’s heroes through the gift of education.”

“Nathan’s Famous is proud to partner with Schnuck Markets to recognize the service and sacrifice of America’s military men and women through the Folds of Honor Foundation,” said Michael Paribello, Smithfield Foods senior director of marketing. “It is a privilege to support this organization in their mission of providing education to the spouses and children of military members who have been killed or disabled in the service of our country.”

Additionally, as the Official Hot Dog of Major League Baseball (MLB), the Nathan’s Famous brand arranged the opportunity for McKenzie MacMillan to throw out the first pitch as the St. Louis Cardinals took on the Chicago Cubs this weekend.

The Folds of Honor Foundation is a nonprofit organization that is focused on providing educational scholarships to spouses and children of fallen or disabled servicemen and women. With the help of generous partners and supporters, Folds of Honor Foundation has been able to award nearly 16,000 scholarships since they were founded in 2007.

Smithfield Foods is the licensee of Nathan’s Famous pre-packaged hot dogs, selling a wide variety of beef franks at more than 20,000 supermarkets and wholesale club stores across the country including all natural, natural casing, skinless, bun-length, angus, and more.
