Perdue Farms Donates 27,000 Pounds of Chicken and $ 10,000 to Support California Wildfire Recovery Efforts

Salisbury, Md. — Perdue Farms is assisting with recovery efforts in northern California following the historic Kincade wildfire that disrupted communities in Sonoma County, home to the company’s Petaluma Poultry operations.

Perdue Farms, through its charitable giving arm, the Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, has designated $10,000 to support recovery efforts of the California Northwest American Red Cross in Santa Rosa. The company has also deployed a truckload of 27,000 pounds of fully cooked, no-antibiotics-ever chicken to the Redwood Empire Food Bank in Santa Rosa as part of its partnership with Feeding America®.

“The images of the wildfires in California and the losses endured by so many is heartbreaking,” said Kim Nechay, executive director of the Perdue Foundation. “Our thoughts remain with all those affected by the unprecedented wildfires. We hope the company’s support through food and funds will help the American Red Cross and Redwood Empire Food Bank expedite the recovery efforts.”

“The American Red Cross continues to work with community partners to provide support and comfort for the families those homes were destroyed and damaged,” Jeff Baumgartner, executive director of the California Northwest Chapter of the American Red Cross. “With support from partners like Perdue, these families don’t have to face tough times alone.”

“Sonoma County is recovering from the devastation of the Kincade Fire, the extended power outage, and the mass mandatory evacuation. This devastating trifecta of events resulted in hundreds of thousands of people losing their refrigerated and frozen food supply,” said David Goodman, executive director of the Redwood Empire Food Bank.“Perdue Farms’ donation of a truckload of poultry products will be welcomed by many as they put their lives back together and reset their dinner tables since returning home.”
