Superior Farms Supplying Lamb For Outside Lands Festival

DIXON, Calif. — Foodies and music lovers are in for a treat this weekend as Superior Farms joins forces with Chef John Fink of The Whole Beast for a lamb pavilion at Outside Lands, a three-day music festival in San Francisco, Calif. on Aug. 10 – 12, 2012. Superior Farms, North America’s largest lamb company, is providing the locally-grown product for the event.

Chef Fink will use local Superior Farms’ lamb to prepare menu items in the tented food area called “Outside Lambs.” Chef Fink is recognized for the art of whole animal cooking – from the farm, to the fire, to the table, his restaurant, The Whole Beast, utilizes heritage breed animals sourced from small local sustainable farms and grills them whole, utilizing the whole animal. A few of the menu items include: Gyros with Red Onion and Cucumber Salad and Chermoula Yogurt, Moroccan Lamb Stew and Lamb Poutine.

“This is a great annual event in San Francisco, and we are excited to partner with Chef Fink to promote our delicious local product,” said Tina Roberts, assistant vice president marketing and culinary business development for Superior Farms. “California is the second largest producer of lamb in the country, making the addition of ‘Outside Lambs’ the perfect opportunity to reach today’s foodie and showcase the many delicious ways anyone can prepare and enjoy lamb.”

Three additional chefs will also be preparing lamb-inspired dishes at the sold-out music festival, which include Lamb Sliders, Lamb Sausage and Lamb Hotdogs.

In addition to supplying product, Superior Farms will be at the event to hand out recipes and other giveaways. Visitors to the “Outside Lambs” food area can tweet a photo of their delicious lamb dish to @eatlamb and enter to win $100 gift card prizes each day.
