Anticipation Builds For Lady Alice Brand Apples' Return

Selah, WA – Once again, it’s time to welcome back Rainier Fruit Company’s exclusive Lady Alice® brand apple. Lady Alice® apples continue to be one of the most eagerly anticipated apples of the season. As regional varieties disappear from store shelves, apple lovers everywhere have begun to turn to the Lady Alice® for its exceptional flavor and texture. A notable member of the apple category’s Rising Star segment, the Lady Alice®’s mid-winter release continues to provide an ideal solution to boost retail sales.

The Lady Alice® returns to market in February in response to peak consumer interest.

“It has been incredible to witness the market’s reception of Lady Alice® and the resulting growth. We have worked diligently over the past several years to better understand the unique characteristics of this apple- from growing and packing to storing and shipping,” said Mark Zirkle, president of Rainier Fruit Company and primary grower of Lady Alice®. “Each year’s crop is an improvement from the last, and this is substantiated by the increasing demand.”

As consumers become more selective in their apple preferences and gravitate toward niche varieties, the increase of Lady Alice® sales continues to prove it is filling a need in the apple category. Sales dollars of Rising Star varieties consistently outperform the Mainline and Declining segments on a dollar basis, indicating that consumers are willing to pay a premium for exceptional fruit.

Discovered as a chance seedling in the orchards of eastern Washington, production of this apple continues to increase in response to consumer demand. Lady Alice® will be available February through May (or while supplies last) at many major and independent grocery retailers.

Rainier supports each retailer's market introduction with multiple POS options, social media, demos and other customized promotional efforts.
